The Quest For The Crest Continues with the 18th Annual Sailfish Challenge
The Quest continues next month with the 18th Annual Sailfish Challenge. On the heels of a $504,625 payout at Operation Sailfish, including winnings of $102, 715 for Fish On for and $75,360 for Team HMY, the 2021 Challenge fleet is primed and ready for another red-hot bite!
The tournament will span over 3 inlets, Government Cut in Miami, Hillsboro Inlet in Pompano Beach and Lakeworth Inlet in Palm Beach. The kick off party and captain’s meeting will be held at Galuppi’s in Pompano Beach on Wednesday, February 17th from 7pm-11pm. Competition days will be Friday the 19th and Saturday the 20th, followed by an awards ceremony at Blue Moon Fish Company in Fort Lauderdale on Sunday the 21st.
In addition to a signature three inlet format, the Sailfish Challenge also boasts a unique ‘Coin Challenge’ competition which randomly selects teams to be grouped together and assigned a specific color, to see which color group can release the most sails throughout the tournament and one lucky team will win a weekend vacation package to Margaritaville Hollywood, FL resort compliments of Landshark Lager.
The 2021 Sailfish Challenge will continue its fundraising efforts for Bahamas aid from the devastating effects suffered on the Abaco Islands from Hurricane Dorian. Guests at the kick off party can participate in a “Lucky Fish” contest to put a few extra bucks in their pocket and help the tournament put a few extra bucks in the pockets of those in need in the Bahamas at the same time.
Early entry for Sailfish Challenge is $1,200 and runs through January 29th, 2021. After the 29th the entry fee will increase to $1,700. In addition to the prestigious first place title, there are several opportunities through a variety of general and optional entry categories for anglers to snag some additional cash. Sailfish Challenge calcuttas include a Fish for Charity option, which will benefit, ‘Bahamas Relief’ as well as a ‘Winner Take All’ category and two tiers of dailies where teams can win over $50,000 per day.
There are also three meatfish optional entries like the Big Fish Bonanza Winner Take All, the Big Three and meatfish dailies. Teams can pre select and pay for their calcuttas during online registration or they can pay for them at the kick off party at Galuppi’s.
